The younger children think that Father Christmas will come down the chimney or fireplace , so they hang up a sock for him to put presents in. The greedy ones even hang up a pillow-case or a sack to try to get more presents. Later that night, Father or Mother will put presents in the sock, and leave others at the side of the bed.
On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. Some even turn on the light at two o'clock, and most of them are awake by six o'clock although it is not light in England for another hour or two at this time of the year.Children look for their presents , and the young ones play while the dinner is prepared. At about one o'clock in the afternoon, the Christmas dinner is brought in . The turkey or chicken is quickly eaten . Children search in their Christmas pudding for new coins which are hidden in it . The rest of the day is full of games and eating until the happiest of all Christmas hollidays comes to an end.

第一，課堂英語枯燥乏味。在課堂上，教師比較注重生詞與語法點(diǎn)，而對(duì)一些比較有趣的知識(shí)（比如中英文化差異）則只是一言而過，無法引起學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的興趣，并且同學(xué)們開口機(jī)會(huì)少，這也是導(dǎo)致產(chǎn)生“啞巴英語”的因素之一；
第二，英語生詞難以掌握，課后習(xí)題量過多。難背的英語單詞讓不少同學(xué)煩惱，而課后可怕的“題海”使同學(xué)們墜入一個(gè)個(gè)深淵。對(duì)英語不少同學(xué)都是敬而遠(yuǎn)之；

下面我們就從聽說讀寫四個(gè)方面來具體說一下英語的學(xué)習(xí)方法。
一、聽力練習(xí)方法建議
1、根據(jù)個(gè)人英語掌握程度，選擇難度適中，語速適當(dāng)?shù)穆犃Υ艓А?/p>
2、選擇心情舒適的時(shí)候進(jìn)行聽力練習(xí)，效果更佳。聽力最佳時(shí)間為早上9點(diǎn)至10點(diǎn)，下午4點(diǎn)至5點(diǎn)，晚上8點(diǎn)至9點(diǎn)，這些時(shí)段記憶力最好，工作效率最高。
3、挑選自己喜歡的英語磁帶練習(xí)，建議選擇趣味性強(qiáng)，故事性強(qiáng)的聽力材料。比如：英語童話故事，世界名著（簡單版）等。
二、口語練習(xí)方法建議
1、首先要掌握基本日常用語，詞匯和短語，以初中到高中學(xué)習(xí)詞匯為標(biāo)準(zhǔn)，大約6000詞匯，300短語。另外這些只是最基本的詞匯掌握量，若要脫口而出，還需掌握最少四級(jí)詞匯。
2、一般買英語磁帶都配有磁帶讀物，比如上面說到的英語童話故事和世界名著。磁帶作為聽力練習(xí)，讀物作為練習(xí)口語閱讀練習(xí)，配合磁帶來糾正自己的發(fā)音，一舉兩得。
3。若有機(jī)會(huì)在城市碰到老外，可以邀請(qǐng)他們和自己留影，只要留影就OK了，如果詞匯不足，不要深談。這樣可以鍛煉膽量和口語呢。我和老外是這么說的：

關(guān)于口語練習(xí)，可以結(jié)合聽力練習(xí)一起進(jìn)行，這里我就不重復(fù)了，另外看英語電影也可以練習(xí)口語，以電影對(duì)話一句為單位，靜音練習(xí)。這樣效果很好，熟練之后可以看著電影說對(duì)話呢！
三、閱讀練習(xí)方法建議
1、根據(jù)自己掌握的詞匯量選擇難度適當(dāng)?shù)挠⒄Z讀物，一般市面上有小學(xué)，初中英語讀物。
2、閱讀英語書籍，不要一目十行，不是當(dāng)成小說來看，要本著學(xué)習(xí)的態(tài)度去看，除非英語掌握十分出色，那另當(dāng)別論。
3、在閱讀過程中遇到生詞不要一一去查字典，這樣費(fèi)時(shí)又不容易把握故事情節(jié)。大部分生詞重復(fù)率很高，根據(jù)上下文可以猜測(cè)它的詞性和大概意思。譬如人名，地名等。其他生詞若實(shí)在影響閱讀，建議馬上查，然后把它記在筆記本上，作為背誦詞匯之一。
四、寫作練習(xí)方法建議
1、經(jīng)常寫英語日記是最快最有效的寫作練習(xí)方法，根據(jù)詞匯量掌握多少，寫出難度適中的日記，字?jǐn)?shù)根據(jù)個(gè)人喜好調(diào)整
2、一些講述寫作方法的作文書和美文欣賞，可以買來供自己參考和借鑒。
我的小技巧：
注意觀察四周一切有英語文字出現(xiàn)的地方。譬如路上的招牌，包裝袋上的英文等等。總之時(shí)刻讓自己接觸英語，平時(shí)小事也不放松。
